Christian J. Girtz
Patent Attorney

Christian Girtz is an associate with Patterson Thuente. He handles patent preparation and prosecution for clients in the fields of computer software, communications, and Internet and electronic commerce.

Professional Experience

Christian’s technical background includes working as a lead software engineer for Honeywell International. His work there involved the development of embedded software at SEI CMM level 3 for ring laser gyro-based aerospace products sold to major aerospace companies, defense contractors, and the U.S. Government. He is experienced in ASIC and ARM architectures as well as various data link layer protocols. Christian also interned as an application developer for Cerner Corporation, writing software for computerized physician order entry (CPOE) products, gaining experience with Oracle/DB2 databases and MFC class-based Win32 software applications. 

 
While earning his law degree, Christian participated in the USPTO Law School Clinical Certification pilot program. Through the program he worked directly with a nonprofit pediatric medical device company to secure patent protection for the company’s first product.
