Patent Lawyers

IT Desktop/Help Desk Support

Patterson Thuente IP, a full-service intellectual property law firm, has an immediate part-time opening for an experienced IT Assistant. The position will focus on user desktop or help desk support.  This position allows for working a flexible schedule up to 25 hours per week.

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • End user  desktop / help desk assistance and support, including hardware, software, and profile set-up
  • Maintaining desktops with required software, patches, and security protocols
  • Install, remove, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems
  • Moves, adds, and changes of desktop and personal settings
  • Assist with firm-wide planning, maintenance, development testing, and security issues for all software and hardware as necessary

The ideal candidate will have three years of hands-on, relevant experience with law firm information technology and proficiency in:

  • Microsoft Windows 7/10 and Office 2007
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • HP Desktop Environment
  • Active Directory 2008 R2 or higher for User and Group Management
  • Patch Management Software
  • Windows Deployment Software or Drive Cloning
  • ProLaw experience a plus
  • Legal or other professional services office experience

Requirements:

  • IT user desktop or help desk support and systems proficiency: 3 years
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Successful candidates will possess the following attributes: high-level organizational and communication skills; strong attention to detail; ability to demonstrate flexibility and deal with changing priorities, based on business needs; exceptional judgment; ability to work effectively as part of a team, but also handle matters independently; good time management skills; and a positive, professional attitude.

Intellectual Property Law Clerk

We are looking for first or second year law students with a technical or scientific degree and eligibility to sit for the patent bar to participate in our law clerk program.

 

Our law clerk program is as unique as the ideas we protect. We provide a year-round opportunity as most of our clerks arrange a part-time work schedule during the school year and full-time during the summer. Our law clerks are involved in real work from the beginning, such as research, drafting patent applications and Office Actions, and assisting our litigation team. We are currently looking for law school students with an Engineering degree and concentration in Chemical, Computer/Software, Electrical, or Mechanical; or a B.S. degree in Computer Science, Physics, Math, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar.
