    Christian Girtz is a partner with Patterson Thuente. He handles patent preparation and prosecution for clients in the fields of computer software, communications, Internet and electronic commerce, and medical devices.

    Christian’s technical background includes working as a lead software engineer for Honeywell International. His work there involved the development of test equipment software and embedded software for ring laser gyro-based aerospace products sold to major aerospace companies, defense contractors, and the U.S. Government. He is experienced in ASIC and ARM architectures as well as various data link layer protocols. Christian also interned as an application developer for Cerner Corporation, writing software for computerized physician order entry (CPOE) products, gaining experience with Oracle/DB2 databases and MFC class-based Win32 software applications.  

    As the convergence of software and digital technology increases across industries, Christian is called upon to assist with clients in the areas of medical device, retail, and manufacturing. He has significant experience developing design patent strategies to bolster protection of clients’ innovation. He also works with startup companies and provides pro bono counsel to inventors through the LegalCORPS Inventor Assistance Program.
