Chris Hansen handles patent preparation and prosecution for clients in the aerospace, agricultural, medical device, mechanical, oil and gas, and robotics industries. Chris also routinely conducts prior art reviews, drafts freedom-to-operate and product clearance opinions and prepares license agreements.

Early in his career, Chris worked as an engineer in an aluminum and magnesium foundry where he was involved in the production of aircraft components. He later joined the United States Navy, where he served his country as a pilot, flying the MH-60S “Knighthawk” helicopter and the C-26D “Metroliner” twin-engine passenger/cargo transport aircraft. His missions primarily included Navy Seal insertion/extraction, reconnaissance and logistics support. While serving in the military, Chris was credited with the rescue of six individuals, including one fellow service member.

As a patent attorney, Chris assists companies, both large and small, as they navigate the often crowded IP landscape in order to establish a position that aligns with their business objectives. He has worked with several startup companies, whose success in raising capital for future growth was supported by their strong IP portfolios.

Chris has drafted, filed and successfully prosecuted well over 250 utility and design patents on a wide array of technologies. He routinely assists his clients in obtaining international IP protection in countries such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, countries within the European Patent Convention (EPO), India, Japan, Mexico, Korea, Russia, and Singapore, as well as within South America.
